I survived!

Day one down...too many more to go!

I can't believe it...I survived my first day as a real teacher!   I got to school at 6:45 am and didn't leave until 6:00 pm...now that is dedication.  These little children had better appreciate this!

My kids are very sweet - I'm happy that I got lucky.  I do have a few that I am going to sit on tomorrow.  I was very nice today, but the mean Miss Bohannon is coming out tomorrow! Luckily they are sitting at the very front of the room where I will keep a close eye on them!  I've also made the official decision to take up ALL rulers tomorrow.  They're more of a toy than a tool.  It's amazing all of the little things that children can create into something so fun!!

Well I thought I would let you all know that I am alive...the 4th graders did NOT kill me.  Now the goal is to survive the rest of the week! Miss you all! :)

Inservice Stinks!

Well I'm an official working person.  I'm a grown-up and I'm not really sure how I feel about it!!

Last week and this week I've had a lot of inservice meetings.  I come home from most of them with a HUGE headache - my brain just cannot take in so much information in such a
short amount of time! I'm so lucky though - my team is amazing.  They're so helpful an
d so nice! This year is going to be great!

I got my class list on Friday! I have 19 sweet 4th graders walking into room 602 on Monday! The first day of school is coming oh so soon!

I had so much fun this weekend at Celina and Tommy's wedding!! It was beautiful! It was so great to see the tri and the roommates! We missed Ash & Kat though ... :(

Anyway, I will leave you all with a few pictures of my new classroom!! It is not complete yet, but it is finished with the decoration part.  YAY...one step closer to being a teacher!
This is the back of my room!  It has my schedule, job chart and Yee-Haw Work!!!
And of course my desk :)

Here's the front of my room! Of course - the alphabet (ask me about Q & R), Lone Star of the Week, the calendar - and my personal fav the fence at the bottom!!!

And finally my word wall and homemade book shelves!!

My new home away from home!

Summer Update

I feel like I should write in here since it's been awhile.  I want to get in a good habit of writing to keep up with everyone!

Well...I haven't done anything of huge interest to anyone!  Sad.  I've been tutoring to make some money to put in the savings account.  I tutor kids going into 1st and 2nd grade in reading and math so they can be ahead for the next year.  It makes me happier and happier everyday thinking that I will NOT be working with kids as young! 4th grade should be perfect.

Today I thought a lot about my classroom.  I came to a realization that I do not have very much time!  I'm the only brand new teacher on my team.  I am coming to school with NOTHING. There are going to be 5 of us - 3 of which are returning to my school.  One is coming from a different school district, but she's taught 4th grade for 10 years.  They all have experience and all sorts of supplies with them.  I'm definitely the rookie with absolutely NO idea of how I am going to set up and manage my room.  After talking to my team leader today, (with I'm sure a lot of stress in my tone of voice) I've gotten some ideas.  I think I'm ready to get started!

Tomorrow I am going to pursue my TV habit by watching So you think you can dance (go twitch and kherington!) and inviting friends to join me.  I am super excited!

Besides the above...that is my summer!  I wake up, tutor, work out, read, watch tv and sleep! Eventful huh?  Well, now it's time for bed.  I was trying to stay up to find out if the American League will win the All Star game.  I'm secretly...or not so secretly... rooting for my new crush - Ian Kinsler.  Unfortunately he's married. Oh well, a girl can dream!

First Post!

Well, since I was harassed this weekend for creating a blog, yet not posting I've decided to write my first post. LET ME TELL YOU (thanks for the good wording, Amy) it was such a fun weekend! Jess (no longer J-Patt, weird) is married and we all got to celebrate with her this weekend!! It was so fun to hang out with the zetas again. It was like we were all just meeting up during summer, waiting to go back in the fall. The strange part is that we won't. It hasn't really hit me yet, but it will!

This summer has been pretty eventful so far, but it should slow down very soon. I went on a cruise (are you surprised?) with my family and Pamela. We left out of NYC which I think made the ship extremely rocky. We survived the sea-sickness though and it was still fun! Now I'm back in Plano about to begin tutoring again this week. I don't like being a grown up at all!

My future classroom has had no progress at all. I actually don't even know which room is mine yet. Of course, my school is the one school PISD is holding summer school this summer. I won't get into my classroom until August. Anyone want to help?

That's about all there is in my life right now. I'm just counting down the days to Celina's wedding so that I can see all of my friends again!!
